How to transfer coverage when you sell your vehicle.

Contract transfers can be performed by both selling and non-selling dealerships in the ESPS system per the guidelines provided. Fees associated with the transfer of a contract will be charged to the dealership performing the transfer for the customer.

  • Supporting documentation for all requests should be retained on file at the dealership
  • Ford/Lincoln Protect Extended Service Plan coverage cannot be transferred to the dealership's name while the vehicle is in stock for resale
  • A transfer must be initiated within 180 days of the vehicle sale/title transfer, effective 2015 plan year – except Premium Maintenance Plans that can be transferred anytime during plan coverage
  • Transferred contracts are not eligible for cancellation
  • Coverage changes must be requested by the original selling dealer prior to the transfer
  • Installment Payment Plan (IPP) contracts must be paid in full before they can be transferred

Plans Not Eligible for Transfer

  • Basic Maintenance Plans, Engine Maintenance Plans and Limited Maintenance Plans
