How to transfer coverage when you sell your vehicle.
Contract transfers can be performed by both selling and non-selling dealerships in the ESPS system per the guidelines provided. Fees associated with the transfer of a contract will be charged to the dealership performing the transfer for the customer.
- Supporting documentation for all requests should be retained on file at the dealership
- Ford/Lincoln Protect Extended Service Plan coverage cannot be transferred to the dealership's name while the vehicle is in stock for resale
- A transfer must be initiated within 180 days of the vehicle sale/title transfer, effective 2015 plan year – except Premium Maintenance Plans that can be transferred anytime during plan coverage
- Transferred contracts are not eligible for cancellation
- Coverage changes must be requested by the original selling dealer prior to the transfer
- Installment Payment Plan (IPP) contracts must be paid in full before they can be transferred
Plans Not Eligible for Transfer
- Basic Maintenance Plans, Engine Maintenance Plans and Limited Maintenance Plans
- Component Wraps (Non-CPO)
- SurfaceCARE Pre-Load Plans
Vehicles Not Eligible for Transferred Contracts
- Vehicles that have been repossessed with a Ford/Lincoln Protect Extended Service Planfinanced contract
- Vehicles with a Ford/Lincoln Protect Extended Service Plan contract that have been cancelled
- Salvaged or reconditioned/branded vehicles
- Vehicles where the actual mileage cannot be determined due to an altered, broken or repaired/replaced odometer
Transfers Processed by Customer
- The customer must mail signed waiver from previous owner, new owner's name and address, and appropriate fee to:
